Sultan - The Little Survivor

A sad tale of animal cruelty we were alerted to.

This emaciated kitten was found in the gutter by an 80 year old woman who saw many people walking by and laughing at it.
At first glance, the concerned woman saw the kittens two back legs had suffered some kind of serious injury and obviously needed immediate attention. She then took the badly damaged kitten to the vet who spent a substantial amount of time digging out multiple cigarettes which had been burnt and embedded into the kittens legs.
The vet could see from the starved frame of the kitten and the type of damage that had been done, that it had probably been in the gutter for two days. In that time no one had done anything despite the fact many people would have walked by. If it had not been for this woman doing something proactive and caring, the kitten would have starved or developed severe infections.
In a wonderful turn of events, Sultan (as he was named) was able to heal well and is now a  healthy boy who got adopted. Congratulations Sultan!
While this story had a happy ending we see a lot of cases that don't always end so happily. It is our mission to help abused, abandoned and unwanted cats and to give them a safe haven while finding them a forever home.
We're always looking for people who want to volunteer and help us with our cause. If you are interested in assisting us in our volunteer work, please email us for further information, or phone either +64-(09)-276-9960 or 027-426-4374.
