Crisis Kittens

Since this story began in mid January 2008, two of the little ones were adopted (Watson, who was adopted passed away early 2012) and Claire passed away in April 2012. Rhonda is still available for adoption and has lived at the trust since she was a baby - you can read more about her here.

Crisis kittens - january 2008

The story of these kittens, much like the Christmas Day kittens before them, help show the awful plight some animals in this country find themselves in and the tough work and sadness that comes with trying to make a difference. These little 'crisis kittens' were found mid-January 2008 completely alone and with no sign of their mother. They were brought to the care and attention of Cats In Need where they had to be bottle-fed every two hours to ensure they got the nutrients they needed to survive.

As you can see from the pictures they were in a bad state when they were found and without knowing how long they were without their mother and sustenance, we can only hope they fight their way through and we'll try as hard as we can to help them.

After much struggle and hard work these kittens are doing so much better it's hard to recognise them from their pictures above.

They're still not quite out of the woods and still need some TLC before they're adopted out so any donations toward their ongoing well-being would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some pictures to show how these little boys and girls look now.

These lovely cats are doing so well and the two boys have been adopted and are now doted on by their new parents. We are told they are doing very well and have adjusted very well to life in their new house. Claire and Rhonda are still at the trust, both are quite petite and will probably always be so due to their rough beginnings but both are very active little ones.

Claire is the more social of the two girls and loves to cuddle, however Rhonda is quite timid and sometimes likes to be by herself, a little loner. It is due to this that the trust want to home the two together as Claire can bring the best out in Rhonda. We are pleased that they have done so well and we now just hope that the two girls will also find their forever home with the right family.

2009 - 2012
Over the years, Claire and Rhonda remained at the trust waiting for the right match for them but happily living at their time out enjoying the sun and their toys - Claire particularly loved interacting with the volunteers as she was a very social girl. Rhonda liked to hang out on her a own a bit more and tended not to trust people she didn't know. Below, Claire is pictured on the left, sitting on one of the chairs in the yard and Rhonda is happily sound asleep in a little bed in a tunnel.

In this time around 2010, there was also the discovery made that Claire suffered from a heart murmur condition that meant while she was not in pain she could potentially pass away at an earlier age. Time passed and all was well with all the cats until, Watson, at the age of over 4 years, who had been adopted passed away due to health conditions in early 2012.
In April 2012, wee Claire, the well loved little trust cat (due to her very friendly nature), passed away from complications due to her heart murmur. She will be greatly missed by all at the trust since we had watch her grow from such a rough beginning. Watson is also mourned but we are forever grateful he had such a loving home where he was spoilt rotten.
This also supports the theories that some kittens who come from wild beginnings who did not have their mother and struggled to survive, often have a shorter lifespan than those who had been born in a well looked after environment with their parents.
However, we are pleased that these little survivors lived out their lives well fed and loved and while we mourn the two who passed, we are grateful that Holmes is still king of his castle and we are waiting to find the right people for Rhonda. If you would like to meet our remaining crisis kitten, who's all grown up, please contact us today.
